Trichloroacetic Acid
Trichloroacetic acid is a medication used in the treatment of warts applied by your dermatologist in the office. This medication is available in many different concentrations, but it routinely applied in concentrations of 25-50% by a Q-tip to the surface of every wart. The medication self-dries and will eventually lead to peeling of the wart. It does not need to be washed off, unlike cantherone, but may be washed off with soap 3-4 hours after application.
Irritation, burning, and blistering may result on the surface of the wart. If an excessive reaction is noted, please consult your physician immediately. Treatments are repeated monthly.
