Pityriasis Alba
Pityriasis alba is most often seen as slightly scaly white patches on the face on young children. These patches are especially noted when tanning takes place on the surrounding skin and these patches continue to stay white. Pityriasis alba is often seen in patients with atopic dermatitis and is felt to be a very mild presentation of the condition. It may also occur in patients with no previous atopic dermatitis history.
The treatment of pityriasis alba is through the use of moisturizers and mild topical steroids twice daily. Suggested moisurizers include:
Aveeno facial moisturizer
Olay facial moisturizer
Cetaphil facial moisturizer
